You can have an eye examination, choose new glasses, have them delivered and have ongoing aftercare without leaving home. What's more, you may be entitled to all of this at no cost to you.
Roving Eye will visit you at your house, nursing or residential home, hospital ward or day centre.
I will bring with me the equipment necessary in order to perform a full eye examination, then discuss your requirements with you and make recommendations regarding your visual needs, whether this relates to your eyes, your glasses or your surroundings.
I will bring with me a wide range of frames for you to choose from, some of which are free if you qualify. I will help you to make the correct choice of frame and lenses.
When your glasses have been manufactured and have passed my quality standards I will return to fit them for you. You can expect to receive your glasses within two weeks, sometimes sooner. I will ensure that your new glasses fit you comfortably and leave a case and a spectacle cleaning cloth. My service does not stop there, I provide aftercare where necessary and I will remind you when it is time for me to come and visit you again.
NHS Entitlement
If you are unable to attend an optician's practice unaided then you may have reason to qualify for a free NHS eye examination and possibly free glasses if you meet any of the following criteria:

- 60 years of age or over
- Under 16, or under 19 and in full time education
- Registered blind or partially sighted
- Diagnosed as having diabetes or glaucoma
- 40 or over with a direct relative with glaucoma, or having been advised by an ophthalmologist as being at risk of glaucoma
- Prescribed a complex lens
- Income Support or Income Based Jobseeker's Allowance
- Pension Credit Guarantee Credit
- Named on a NHS certificate (HC2 or HC3) for full or partial help with health costs
- Working Tax Credit or Child Tax Credit and named on a NHS Tax Credit NHS Exemption Certificate
